I, for one, am very interested to see the finished inside of your Mom's house. The "after" shots... Kitchen counters, dish towels, furniture... All done. Chris/you all did an awesome job with the fence. In fact, I'm very much in awe of the massive amount of work you all did in such a short time especially during the heat you've had in TX this summer. Congratulations on finishing up. It has been an inspiration to "watch."

My niece's husband is Salvadoran, and they used to live near a great little specialty restaurant. I love papusas! (and trying any food from a different culture) Glad to see you got a little down time, even if it was just for a meal!

pupusas are the food of the gods. but, if the makers don't use the right cheese... blech!

I've been reading your blog for a while, and I once took a class from you at the quilt show in Williamsburg. I have lived in and renovated two old houses (built in the 20's), and I have to say that you are the hardest and fastest working people I have ever seen. You must be exhausted! I am so impressed, and I know your mom and sister will truly enjoy their new space.

I hope you enjoyed the Salvadorean food. The place looks charming, and I love your family photos, too! We have a Salvadorean/Mexican restaurant here called "Amelia's" - yes, there is an Amelia, mostly retired now - worked from about age 8. Now the family runs the restaurant. I like pupusas but some of the special plates are even better, like the Salvadorean chili relleno with pork and vegetable filling, seved in a large bowl, in a kind of rich, seasoned gravy, with tortillas, rice and beans on the side.
The restaurant used to have year-round Christmas decor, and still has two beautiful murals showing an idealized version of village life. If you visit SF Bay Area, I will take you there!

Applique A Wheel

  • WheelApplique-001
You'll find appliqued "wheels' in both Aunt Millie's Garden and Lorna's Vine quilts. They look difficult to sew, but they really aren't.

Errata

  • Tree O' Life from Applique Outside the Lines
There is an enlargement percentage that is incorrect. We and our tech editors are very sorry about any inconvenience this may cause you. On page 36 under "Note" and on the Tree O' Life pattern pullout page, please change the enlargement numbers from 50% to 200%. Also, on page 35, in the cutting instructions, the top border should be cut 10" x 54".
  • Tulips in the Park
If you downloaded any Tulips in the Park ePattern before February 4, please note that there is yardage for a black border background listed in the Materials section that should not be there. You do need the 2 1/2 yards of brown border background fabric - but no additional black fabric.
